About THE SANDBOX

Combining a love for entrepreneurship, creativity and adventure.

The SANDBOX Santa Barbara was launched in January of 2017 by two friends who grew up in Goleta, California. Founders Mark Schulbach and Kyle Ashby grew up on the central coast and have been doing business and bringing people together since attending UCSB as student athletes, future scientists, film makers and musicians.

Flash forward, and THE SANDBOX is now owned by Kyle Ashby and THE SANDBOX has become the premier event space and community for creative, lifestyle focused and tech entrepreneurs, small businesses, non profits and remote workers who want to get things done, build their network, and take part in SANDBOX programs in event. SANDBOX members also enjoy getting outside to enjoy their time with family, friends, community and the amazing central coast we call home.

There is no way to quantify the value of meeting the person who shows you how to finally start that venture you’ve always dreamed of, experiencing how Photoshop can turn your ideas into reality, or discovering you’ve always possessed an aptitude for creativity or technology.

Commitment to the Environment

THE SANDBOX is driven by our passion for adventuring in the coastal communities where we live, paddle, ride and explore.

We are the only coworking space in the United States that has pledged 1% of our revenue to organizations that support our environment through or 1% for the Planet membership. We work closely with a handful of environmental organizations to help raise awareness and funds to keep our oceans clean, our environment cared for, and reduce the amount of waste in and around our venue, including making all events plastic free.

We are also an active business member of the Blue Business Council we strive to work for the environment and ocean as much as we do our members, partners, friends and families.

THE SANDBOX Santa Barbara is a coworking, shared office & event space for a community of entrepreneurs, technology and creative professionals focusing on creating technology solutions, lifestyle brands and a lifestyle of their own that is uniquely Californian.

Located at 414 Olive Street in Santa Barbara

Staff Hours:
Monday to Friday – 8:30 am to noon
Note: All visits and tours need to be scheduled between 8:30 am and noon.

Day Pass Hours:
Monday to Friday – 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
Note: Coworking Day Pass users need to get started between 8:30 am and noon (M to F)

Santa Barbara Staff Hours

Currently, our staff is available Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to noon.

To get started as a new member, rent a desk or office, or tour the space, please visit between 8:30 am and noon, or email us to schedule a time to meet.
